Balea Lake is a glacial lake located at an altitude of 2040 m in Fagaras Mountains, the most imposing mountain in the Romanian Carpathians. Lake dimensions are: 360 m in length, area of 46,508 square meters and a depth of 11.35 m
Access is made easier by the existence of Balea Lake Transfagarasan road, paved entirely.

The landscape is of a unique beauty in every visiting season. Mountain peaks hide complex glacial valleys, suspended or simple, high peaks and sharp spurs, and massive towers aligned one by one on a Himalayan alpine front with flair.

Impressive altitude where there is – 2042 m, length of road which is only 152 km, the often spectacular winding road and the 27 bridges and viaducts, combined with wonderful scenery give the impression of endless track.

Transfagarasan  hugs in its way some breathtaking vestiges : the massive  hydroelectric dam Vidraru, the  Goat Waterfall, the Balea tunnel (the longest in Romania), alpine nature reserve, Lake and Balea waterfall situated at highest altitude in Romania.
